Crab Feast @ Sakura International Halal Buffet

Sakura International Buffet is bringing back it's highly anticipated crab buffet featuring the irresistible Charcoal-grilled King crab and Snow crab legs starting from $31.90++, for a limited time only. This is my first visit to the branch at Downtown East and also my first time trying out Sakura's crab buffet.

Apart from these flaming good crabs, there will also be unlimited servings of sashimi, sushi, salad bar as well as seafood; scallops, mussels, clams, prawns and Norwegian salmon.

The seafood counter, the assorted sushi is at the same segment as well.

A wide range of sushi, cha soba tuna and sashimi. I like how the it's not just the usual maki's but there's interesting ones like mentai on smoked salmon sushi.

Not forgetting the grills like Argentinian red shrimp, beef bulgogi and salmon fillet at the Teppanyaki & charcoal grill stations.

The western station feature selection such as bbq chicken meat, pizza, lasagne & garlic bread etc. Didn't really touch this counter because I want to save stomach space for the grills and seafood!

Some of the pre-cooked local delights here such as fried rice, sambal clams, mutton curry, omelette and thai chilli fried tofu. Rather decent with the cooked food, nothing impressive.

As usual dim sum selection is one of the international cuisine in a buffet. Options ranging from lou mai gai, siew mai, chicken bao etc.

Here at the Noodle Live Station with a choice of only Laksa. This is also a DIY station where you're free to cook it with your favorite toppings. The gravy is rich in flavour, giving the peranakan nyonya style. I think I had 2 bowls of this :P

Chawanmushi in a buffet line always pleases me, especially it's unlimited serving. Besides this, there were a few choices of soups from mushroom to mocked shark fin soup.

At the deep fried counter, you will find tempuras, prawn paste chicken as well as seafood pocket.

Another DIY Kueh Pie Tee station, the prawn meat took quite a while to top up so I had my kueh pie tees without the prawn meat. And the golden cups weren't as crispy as I expected, probably the container isn't hair tight enough.

Finally it's dessert time! Ranging from assorted fruits, rainbow cakes, eclairs to cheesecakes. Be sure to try out the signature D24 durian puff, it's pretty good. But the best is the Durian Pengat, it's thick and rich in flavour! If you fancy durian, you've got to try this!

Adorable mini cupcakes with 2 flavours - chocolate and red velvet. At the bottom of the dessert spread, you will find local desserts like Bobo char char, Cheng Teng, Mango Sago, Yam paste as well as Pulut hitam.

Probably the main highlight at the dessert counter, DIY waffle! Make your own waffle with just 90 seconds, just follow the instructions at the side. Peanut butter spread is available, as well as rainbow/chocolate sprinkles. I wish there were maple syrup instead of chocolate sauce.

Ice cream flavours with the usual kind; strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, cookies & cream, hokkaido milk and salted caramel.

So here's our DIY waffle! Taste wise, nothing impressive overall but it's still good.

My previous crab buffet experience was at Park Royal, if you fancy crabs, read here to find out more. The crab feast at Sakura is only available for a limited time, it is available at all outlets expect the branch at Yio Chu Kang. All Sakura buffets are halal so I think it's a great option to all muslim friends, as well as indulging into unlimited servings of charcoal grilled King crabs! For $31.90++, I feel it's really worth the money.
