BAKER's Ville - Bugis Village

You would have probably seen these egg tarts and cakes from Baker's Ville going viral on Instagram. Baker's Ville is founded in 2013 in Johor Bahru, Malaysia which features the crumbly 26 thousand layers tarts that are handmade from scratch daily. Baker's Ville also serves angel cake and Tokyo egg brulee.

The angel cake with 5 types of flavours range from $9.90 to $10.90 for a whole cake. It's basically a sponge cake that is baked purely egg white till fluffy and moist. It's pretty worth value for a 6" whole cake of about 10 bucks. I had the Matcha Red Bean $10.90 which was rather enjoyable, as well as the original lemon as seen below. The oreo flavour on the other hand was disastrous, I suggest don't go near to it.

Here's the highlight at Baker's Ville, 26 Thousands Layers Tarts which goes at $5 for 3 pieces. There are 3 flavours to pick from; original, coffee and matcha red bean. One of the reasons is that 26 Thousands Layers tart is baked within 26 rigorous steps and also Baker’s. Another main reason is Baker’s Ville is founded by Boey Chai when she was at the age of 26.

A superb combination of 206 – folds tart crust and 220 °C of baking temperature. These mini tarts were enjoyable while crispy on the crust and moist within. I wouldn't say it's the best I've had but decent enough.

The Tokyo Egg Brulee on the other hand wasn't as satisfying, to me. It goes at $9.90 for a box of 4, filled with egg custard pudding. The dense pudding leans towards the milky kind of taste which I didn't quite enjoy.

Baker's Ville is located right behind the Bugis street bus stop, with only takeaway orders. They are not certified halal but no pork, lard or any non-halal ingredients like gelatine and alcohol is used in their products. The egg tarts are ideal for a quick bite and the angel cake is best for a budget whole cake. Since it is baked freshly, it is best to consumed within 30 minutes after purchase.

  4. Oh, this recipe seems really yummy! I plan to make it for the New Year's Eve bash. But here's the catch—I'm struggling with creating my cricket id online. My dad promised extra pocket money if I ace this cricket ID, so it's kind of a big deal. Any tips or ideas would be super helpful. Thanks a bunch!
