Sunrise Bistro & Bar, Communal Dining @ East Coast Park

Sunrise Bistro & Bar has just unveiled its revamped a la carte menu, offering a unique dining concept - communal dining by the beach. For this year of festive season, the chef at Sunrise has doled out the Sumptuous Festive Meal which features a assorted seafood platter, meat platter and desserts for 2-3 pax.

Helming the kitchen is Chef Vincent Teng, who to date has worked at several establishments such as Scarlet Hotel, Table 66, Skyve etc. This festive meal is available both dine-in and takeaways.

As part of the festive set meal, the chilled seafood platter comprises of shucked Australian coffin bay oysters which are plump, fresh and juicy. There were also the white wine blanched live prawns, Australian blue mussels, Venus clams as well as Salmon sashimi. All items are serve in 2-3 pax serving.

I personally like the dip for the seafood platter, which comes with condiments such as Japanese mignonette with Japanese brown rice vinegar and Thai style roasted tomato dip. The roasted tomato dip is my favorite.

While the meat platter on the other hand stars a Whole Red Snapper with cereal crust, BBQ Black Angus Beef Ribs and Crispy Pork Belly with five spice salt. The whole red snapper was voted the best among the people at my table, with it's soft and velvety texture while the cereal crust gives a crunch at every bite. The black angus beef is soft and flavorful, where else the pork belly was a tad dry but that crackling was irresistible. Chef Vincent uses the sous vide technique and other french cooking styles for most of meats.

The platter also comes with a choice of accompaniments such as Pumpkin and potato mash which was a crowd pleaser, really enjoy that. As well as sautéed vegetables and french fries. It stated truffle fries but we couldn't taste any hint of truffle so I shall just leave it as normal french fries, not to get your hopes too high.

The meat platter comes with sauces as well such as the homemade apple and smoked tomato ketchup; sweet chili and pineapple salsa; and honey mustard sauce. These are specially prepared to go along with the platter, like the Apple Jam > Beef, Pineapple Salsa > Fish and Honey Mustard > Pork belly. The honey mustard was a little too sour for my liking, I would still prefer the apple jam and pineapple salsa!

Lastly, cap off the festive meal with this Salted Egg Yolk and White Chocolate Fondue. There were the strawberries, bananas, cookies, panettones and marshmallows for the dip. That thick and rich salted egg yolk custard dip was no doubt addictive, it's good on it's own. Overall, felt that the accompaniments were lacking in this creative dessert. Probably some fried mini donuts or waffle bits would be ideal.

This sumptuous festive meal is an ideal concept where by everyone comes together and bonds over good food. The meal start from $99++ per set for dining in and you can choose to take away if you want to enjoy at the comfort of your home. Do note that this festive platter is only available from 19th Dec 2015 to 1st Jan 2016. Besides this, there is the usual ala carte menu with an array of casual french fare and small bites.
