I remember seeing them in Korea back then, along the streets of Myeongdong and now they have arrived here in Singapore. Andong Jjimdaks, literally means 'steamed chicken of Andong' is a variety of jjim (a Korean steamed or boiled dish), which originated in the city of Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do province.

Basically, Zzimdak is a mixture made of chicken, various vegetables marinated in ganjang (Korean soy sauce) based sauce. With 65 stores in around in Korea, the menu in Singapore is slightly different as to cater more to Singaporean's palate. Anyway, the jjimdaks are generally spicy with Mayak Jjimdak being the spiciest.
One of the beverages
that I find it best paired with the chicken stew is this Ice Citron Tea
$3.50. It was no doubt refreshing and enjoyable. Note that a Hot Citron Tea
is also available at $2.50.
Like the usual Korean eateries with free flow side dishes, Andong serves free flow of kimchi and pickles.
One of the popular
jjimdaks on the menu is this Boneless Jjimdak ($49.90 | 2-3pax) ($59.90
| 3-4pax), which features boneless chicken thigh meat mixed with
carrots and potatoes. It is marinated in the spicy ganjang (Korean soy sauce)
based sauce, along with thick chewy sweet potato noodles.
Additional toppings
goes at $3.90 each such as the Tteokbokki (rice cakes) that we had. Of course
you can have additional steamed rice or even extra noodles in your jjimdak.
Besides the various
jjimdaks on the menu, there are also other Korean side dishes like Spicy
Tteokbokki, Mandu, Chicken Karaage and this Mini Seafood Pancake $9.90.
Unlike the usual big round Korean pancake, the ones here are smaller due to the
space constraint in the shop. Overall it was pretty good, not a bad eat but just that all of us
felt that it tasted like Thai fried fish cake. Don't forget the dip though.
These jjimdaks were
indeed comfort food, I like how the overall chicken stew is packed with
flavours. The only thing I wish it was served in a hot pot so it's constantly
hot and shiok every mouthful, as it turns cold after awhile since the portion
is huge and we take longer to finish. Anyway, great for sharing among friends!

Korean cuisine is quite delicious, especially for those who enjoy working out as it contains a lot of protein these days. Since the IPL is coming up in March and I'm obsessed with the cricket, I was looking for my cricket ID.
