Sacha & Sons, NY Delicatessen - Mandarin Gallery

Kicked start the year with our first eat up with fellow Burpple Tastemakers at Sacha & Sons. Located at Mandarin Gallery, Sacha & Sons is a New York Delicatessen which serves New York's iconic delis in the heart of Singapore. They specializes in smoked pastrami, corned beef, roast beef and a selection of smoked fish. It has recently take over half the space of Wild Honey, opened by the same folks behind Wild Honey.

Sacha & Sons are owned by a husband and wife team, whom having both lived and worked in New York, are absolutely passionate about sharing their personal love of NY deli food to the rest of Singapore. Here's a tower of freshly stacked bagels, we are sure good at balancing :P

We started off our meals with soups. From left, Classic Chicken Soup with Plain Matzo Balls ($12) and Beetroot Borscht with Sour Cream & Dill ($12). The chicken soup tasted normal but the plain matzo balls felt rubbery ad bland. Not to my liking personally. While the Beetroot Borcscht was better.

This is a dish that not everyone is able to take it, here's Toasted Brioche with Chopped Liver ($14). It's basically chicken chopped liver, this exotic taste is for the adventurous people. Not myself.

Sacha's Toast with Schmaltz, herbs and chicken skin ($12) - Chicken skin is crispy but overall rather decent, nothing out of the world. I wouldn't recommend this for 12 bucks.

Freshly baked pastries, here's Pastrami Knishes, 3 puff pastry roll for $12. I't's stuffed with mash potato and minced pastrami, as well as sauce. But I would say go straight to the bagels platter for mains.

For mains, we had the speciality platters which 3 kinds - Meat, Smoked Fish and Dips. It also comes with bagels, house pickles, coleslaw, onion and tomato.

We were sharing among the 6 of us which explains the big portion.
The speciality platters is good for 2 people.

For the Smoked Fish Dip ($55), choose 3 items out of 5 for each platter. Here we have the Smoked Salmon, Smoked Trout Dip and Smoked Salmon Dip. Spread them on your crispy bagels, so good!

It goes the same for the Meat Platter ($55) as well, choose 3 items out of 5. Here we have the Pastrami, Corned Beef and Roast Beef. I'm all for Pastrami, sandwiched it with your bagels (Y)

Capped the meal off with really awesome cheesecakes at Sacha & Sons. It's soft and moist, with a slight tinge of lemon taste. I was pleasantly surprised at how light and refreshing this is. On a rare occasion, I actually finished one slice of cheesecake all to myself.

If you're looking for authentic recipes, tastes and textures of NY, head over to Sacha & Sons for some quality meat especially it's pastramis. Once again, thank you Burpple and the folks of Sacha & Sons for having us and your warm hospitality!
