Ramen Keisuke Lobster King, Clarke Quay Singapore

I was excited upon knowing that Ramen Keisuke is opening their 10th outlet here in Singapore, and the best part is they are introducing the first-ever Lobster Stock Ramen to mark this opening. Most local would have known Ramen Keisuke, being the most established Japanese ramen brand in Singapore such as Tonkotsu King at Orchid Hotel, as well as latest concept - Tendon Ginza Itsuki.

Located at Singapore’s hottest dining destination Clarke Quay, this new 62 seater outlet, which includes alfresco dining, is the second largest ramen outlet under the Ramen Keisuke chain.

Just like any other Ramen Keisuke concept, all dining experience here consist a free flow of boiled eggs and bean sprouts. Everything you need to complete this ramen deal is just right at the table.

Whenever I dine at any Ramen Keisuke branch, I would always go for either the Green Tea Cola $4 or Wasabi Ginger Ale $4 - no doubt refreshing. Or feeling for some sake, go for the Dassai Junmaidaiginjyo which cost $20 for a glass.

We tried most of the side dishes on the menu before going into the different ramen. Most of them were rather decent, would recommend to go for the chicken nanban and beef tataki.

There are other alternatives if you do not wish to have ramen here, the rice options are Niku Meshi (Minced Pork on Rice) $5.80, Fried Rice $8.80 and Omelet Rice $10.80. Minced pork on rice comes in a tiny portion, an ideal choice if you're not really hungry, while the fried rice and omelet rice is just right for one. Do not expect much on these because these weren't the highlight at Lobster King.

Other side dishes on the menu are the Pork Gyoza (5 pcs $8.80), Teriyaki Chicken $8.80 and Stir-fried mushroom with garlic and butter $8.80. If you're looking for good gyozas around, go to Keisuke's Gyoza concept branch instead - Gyoza King. I thought the stir fried mushrooms makes a great pair with the ramen.

Since the Beef Tataki was sold out for the day, we went ahead with the Chicken Nanban $9.80 which comes with homemade tartar sauce. Like the photos above, the staff will smash the egg and mix them with mayo and seasoning for the tartar sauce. Tip: smash more boiled egg and add mayo for some homemade egg mayo :P

Here's the main highlight - Lobster Stock Ramen. As usual, just like the other Keisuke's concept, you are able to customized your ramen. Pick your choice of ramen and choose to add-on toppings from the menu.

The all-new Lobster Stock Ramen is available in 4 different styles namely, Lobster Broth Ramen with Clear Soup ($13.90), Lobster Broth Ramen with Rich Creamy Soup ($14.90), Miso Lobster Broth Ramen ($14.90) Spicy Miso Lobster Broth Ramen ($15.90) which comes with pork belly and chicken char siew, black pepper prawn wantons topped with bamboo shoots.

In Miso Lobster Broth Ramen, the unique lobster broth is boiled with a special blend using 3 various types of miso. I would prefer this to the rich creamy soup option.

If you wish for some spiciness in your ramen, go for the locally inspired ramen creation, the Spicy Miso Lobster Broth Ramen. This is created with blended spices and chilli such as spicy oil, Japanese Ichimi and Sichuan Sansho, making this set to be a more flavorful and aromatic broth designed for local taste-buds.

I would personally recommend the Miso and Clear soup as I prefer something light. The shells of rock lobster are first pan-fried, crushed into fine bits and subsequently simmered for 6 hours with a special blend of herbs and vegetables to create the Lobster Broth Ramen (Clear Soup) - also the original base. Just so you know, the inspiration here is taken from the famous French lobster bisque.

Open daily from 6pm to 5am at the popular night destination Clarke Quay, party-goers and others can get their ramen fix or supper here in the wee hours!
