Da Paolo Gastronomia @ Cluny Court, Bukit Timah

With six branches scattered around in Singapore, Gastronomia is a real food boutique for those with great taste but too little time. With a take-away concept store, the modest trattoria serves a selection of Italian fare, such as homemade pasta, soups, antipasti, salads, pizza, sandwiches as well as pastries and desserts.


A short introductory to Gastronomia - In 1989, Paolo and Judie Scarpa opened a modest trattoria in Singapore, serving honest Italian fare. Today, Da Paolo Group, which now includes a bistro, pizzeria, gastronomia chain, and a catering arm, remains wholly owned and operated by the family, committed to quality and authenticity. 


The branch at Cluny Court has recently gone through a revamp and it is now displaying a more gorgeous interior, coupled with a rustic sort of concept. An ideal spot to chill over coffee and pastries.


One of their brand new item you can expect to see at Da Paolo - Ham & Cheese Croissant $7.90. Their rendition here is packed with melted Parmesan, bechamel and ham within, while the croissants were dense and moist in texture. Cheesy goodness and this is enough to keep you full for the morning.



The salted egg croissants trend have been going on for some time in Singapore and since then, several bakeries and cafes have jumped on the bandwagon including Da Paolo. The recent release of Salted Egg Croissant $6.90 is available at all Gastronomia outlets. The flaky and buttery croissant has won my heart over while the only flaw was the salted egg filling. It's like salted egg plus salt altogether.


There were a wide spread of Antipasti choices including new options such as mixed grains and quinoa with kale. For those of you who doesn't know what's Antipasti, it is basically mean 'before a meal' and it is traditionally the first course of a italian meal. With the wide variety, I believe everyone can create their own healthy meal here.

You can do so with 4 simple steps - simply pick your antipasti, bring your receipt to the cashier, collect your food at the cashier and enjoy! You will pay according to the weight of the antipasti you pick, let's say my favorite item Prawns & Asparagus is $6.80 per 100g.



Being a take-away concept store, most of their desserts are presented in take away containers too. We tried some of their signature cakes such as Tella Fudge $8.80, N Cake $9, Passionfruit Cheese Crumble as well as the well-loved Tiramisu $13.50. Not the most instagram worthy kind of cakes but Da Paolo is about desserts to go.


Here's the much celebrated tiramisu, this portion is perfect for two sharing. This tiramisu is a rich treat with a balance blend of cocoa and espresso flavours. Altogether with these layers of cake infused with rum is indeed refreshing. If you need to take away some sweets for a party or gathering, Da Paolo is definitely the one to go.


Located a stone throw away from Bontanic Gardens MRT station, the newly revamp branch at Cluny Court is ideal for a quick meal or takeaway. Besides antipasti or pastries, the extensive menu also includes pasta and pizza!
