Adding on to the list of affordable food in ION Orchard basement food hall is CRAVE, one of Singapore's best Nasi Lemak and Teh Tarik at one go. Enjoy the best of both worlds at CRAVE's newest outlet with two of Singapore's most beloved classic - Adam Road nasi lemak by Selera Rasa and Amoy St teh tarik by Rafee's corner.
Strategically situated in the heart of Orchard, the newly shoebox-sized stall offers convenient access to all locals to enjoy the two classics. Selera Rasa's nasi lemak starting from $4.90, contains 4 staples that is prepared using the family's recipe - sambal chilli, chicken wing, basmati rice and fresh otah.
The special thing about Selera Rasa's nasi lemak is that they uses basmatic rice - Grown on
snow-fed water and
found only in
the Himalayas, the basmatic coconut is fragrant and slightly finer than the usual rice. Not forgetting it's healthier too. One of the key highlight to a good nasi lemak is the sambal chilli! Selera Rasa’s version is made with both Indian and Japanese
chillies and cooked for five
hours, compliment really well with the basmatic rice.
There are 5 different combinations of nasi lemak set to pick from.
- Fish Meal (S$4.90): The crispy kuning
fish imparts a delightful salty note and pair it with the basmati rice.
- Fish Fillet (S$4.90): The fish fillet will probably be a hit
amongst children. Accompanying the fillet also is bergedil, a traditional
Malay-style spiced potato patty.
- Full House (S$5.90):
The powerhouse chicken
wing makes an
appearance in this set.
- Chicken Cutlet (S$5.90):
The juicy chicken
cutlet here will be a delight to fried chicken lovers.
- Royal Rumble (S$6.90): This set is the ultimate indulgence
where you can savour Selera Rasa's chicken wing, crisp-fried fish,
bergedil together with other condiments at one go.
*Simply top up a dollar for an additional otah which is freshly grilled at the stall.
Here is the main behind Rafee's corner, Mohamad Rabeek where he has travelled to Cameron Highlands, India and Indonesia
to find the best blend for this teh tarik. In Indonesia, he has found the perfect tea dust and he
imports it to Singapore. He then mixes and matches the different types of tea
dust to create his own version.
We had iced teh tarik, it was rich and fragrant with the blend of tea. Rafee's Corner's teh tarik, at prices starting from $1.80 only, indeed is the most ideal accompaniment and perk-me-up to Selera Rasa’s award-winning nasi lemak.
With currently 4 outlets in Singapore, locals can now enjoy a comforting combinations of the famous Adam Road nasi lemak by Selera Rasa and famous Amoy Street teh tarik from Rafee’s Corner in the busy district of Orchard.
