Finally tried Seasonal Tastes at Westin Hotel after a couple of failed attempts. The restaurant’s casual design features sweeping floor-to-ceiling windows that show off breathtaking views of Singapore's city skyline. Besides the awesome view, Seasonal Tastes serve a spread of Asian and International fare. I believe everyone can find something here to suit their taste bud in any form.
Located at the 32 storey of The Westin Singapore, consumers can enjoy a spread of buffet items in this chill ambience while overlooking views of Singapore. I'm sure the view during the day would be way better.
Upon entering at the entrance, you will be greeted with an array of desserts. Honestly, the highlight of this buffet line for me was the Dessert Station. Ranging from a mass of sweets, my favorite were the coconut tarts and coffee madeleines. So, be sure to save some room for them.
Love the desserts spread, I wish I had save more room for these. Besides cakes and pastries, they were the Asian kind such as Ang Ku Kueh and traditional nonya kuehs.
Your dining experience at Westin won't be complete if you have not tried the Gelato! The popular flavours such as the Dark Chocolate and Avocado gelato, so go straight into that if you can't decide the flavours. It was the last thing I had in the buffet and also the best thing. As for the Avocado gelato - it was smooth, light and acted as a refreshing palate to cleanse the taste bud. It is an acquired taste so it's either you love it or hate it.
At the Seafood Station, you will be spoiled for choices with that variety. There were fresh prawns, lobsters, crab legs, mussels, scallops and oysters that are freshly shucked on the spot.
Salad Bar - I have to say the spread of greens at the salad bar itself is extensive enough.
At the Noodle Station, there were laksa, seafood and chicken broth to choose from. Laksa is recommended.
A highlight for me at Westin, something that I find it good. Here's Caramelized Pulled Pork with Potatoes, it was a balance of sweet and savoury with shredded of tender pork. This is a win.
The main thing at Westin is that it offers a live interactive kitchen concept to provide a truly personalised dining experience. Ranging from Beef Sirloin, Lamb Leg, Whole Seabass and Fennel Sausage, all of this items are freshly prepared on the spot upon ordering. Get the number clips from your table and pass it to the chef.
Satays are constantly grilled so it is always hot and fresh. There were Pork, Chicken and Beef to pick from.
At the Japanese Station, assortment of sushi as well as fried tempuras. Salmon and tuna sashimi are freshly sliced by the chef, something I personally prefer. I would suggest Westin to improve on their Japanese selection variety, as you can see. Was actually hoping to see chawanmushi or soba though.
Overall, hits and misses with some above average while others fell short of it. If you love your desserts as much as I do, I would suggest saving half the room for sweets! :P With such an idyllic setting, beautiful views and spread, I personally feel it's advisable to go for their lunch buffet considering the spread :)
