L'ÉCLAIR by Sarah Michelle

When I saw the raved on Instagram that a éclair shop has opened locally, I can't contain my excitement. Yes, L'ÉCLAIR by Sarah Michelle is the first éclair specialty store and cafe in Singapore, located at Singapore Shopping Centre. Back then, they were seen at pop up stalls selling these assorted éclairs. So pretty!

As the shop name goes, L'ÉCLAIR is proudly founded by Sarah and Michelle, two good friends and pâtissières who shared a similar dream and passion. After 9 good months of learning french pastry at Le Cordon Bleu Paris, the girls have brought a little piece of Paris to Singapore.

Finally got to try all flavours at L'ÉCLAIR after my third attempt during the weekend, my last two visits were turn down because most flavours were sold out by 7pm.

Up to 10 flavours are available daily, with a price ranging from $7.50 to $8.50. A huge thanks to the EntertainerApp, we tried all 10 flavours for the price of 5. One blue dollar note is enough, so worth it. I personally like how fresh and crisp the oblong pastry is for the eclairs.

(Back) Earl Grey $8 - Coated with chocolate and topped with blueberries, this is one of the favorite at my table. The earl grey filling within is refreshing though subtle.

(Front) Lemon Meringue $7.50 - first time was a tad sour for me, but subsequent bites were delightful.

Hazelnut Praline $8 - This is probably my favorite among all, on my first bite I thought I was having the delicate ferrero rocher. The oblong pastry were slightly different for this as you can see it sort of resemble the shape of a ferrero rocher. One circular shell is filled with hazelnut chocolate with chopped hazelnuts within.

Cookies & Cream $7.50 - New flavour on the shelf, pretty good though nothing out of the world.

66% Dark Chocolate $8 - dark chocolate lovers will love this, for a bitter taste.

Kaya Pandan $8 - Ahh my personal pick among all. The combination of kaya and pandan is just pure heaven to me. Kaya filling topped with pandan cream and grated coconut. This is truly a crowd pleaser at my table.

Salted Caramel $7.50 - rich salted caramel filling topped with chocolate glaze and caramelised pop corns. It was rather decent on the taste while the one next to it was bizarre.

Pineapple Ginger $8 - Also a new flavour on the shelf. A unique twist in flavours with pineapple and ginger. As the ginger flavour leans to the stronger side, it's either you hate it or love it.

Ispahan $8.50 - A fruity combination with rose, lychee and raspberry. There's this distinctive floral scent in the overall eclair as well. Interesting twist though I couldn't really taste the cream filling as it was too subtle. While the topped pastry that is coated with rose as sweet.

Tahitian Vanilla & Pecans $8 - Also one of my favorite so far, the vanilla wasn't overly sweet while the pecans adds a little zest of sweetness to complete it. Indeed love this one.

Also do note that the permanent mainstays are the classic flavours such as the Vanilla & Pecans, Salted Caramel, 66% Dark Chocolate and Ispahan. On the other hand, love the classy and luxurious looking space here. Perfect spot to chill over some eclairs and coffee, and watch the world go by.

Besides the sweets, savory items are available here too such as the chicken and bacon pie. Beverages like coffee, teas and sodas are obtainable here as well. Anyway, I can understand the steep price tag where some people would find it ridiculous (like you can buy 3 plates of chicken rice for 1, yes I overheard it). We have to know that a lot of labour work and effort is put in to assembled each eclair by hand. But then again, why not use #TheEntertainerApp? :P

  1. As a New Zealand resident, I know the importance of having a good raincoat. The weather here may turn on a dime, so it's important to always be prepared. My life was revolutionised when I purchased a raincoat from rain jacket nz in my area. It is compact, lightweight, and waterproof, making it ideal for trips to the great outdoors. My rain jacket has become an essential item of clothing for me, whether I'm out on a hike, in the city or simply doing errands.
