For most of you instagrammers, would have know that the new creation at Hvala Waffle Bar is inspired from the famous dessert store in Hong Kong called Oddies Foodies - where they are known for their egg waffle dessert that is topped with gelato, panna cotta, ice cream, brownies and more. Where else the edition at Hvala Waffle Bar, you're free to customise your soft serve with any 2 toppings at $7.90.
Additional toppings goes at $1 each. The egglet can be sold separately at $3.90 which comes with one topping of your choice. The toppings available were simple, a couple of fruits and crunch like the digestive biscuits, muesli etc. Besides this, Hvala came up with this interesting topping - Pandan Coconut Panna Cotta. It was good eating it alone but got overpowered after mixing it up with the soft serve and sauce.
The menu for the waffle and cake in a cup, top up $1 to changed your waffle or cake to the 'Puffle' instead which is also called the egg waffles (鷄蛋仔). One thing that can't go wrong at Hvala is their vanilla bean soft serve, it's slightly different from the others but the flavour is on point. Really good.
For the soft serve, you are able to pick various sauce but Black Sesame sauce is definitely my pick. Always a fan of black sesame and the one at Hvala did not disappoint. Alternative options are salted caramel, chocolate, speculoos, maple etc. On the other hand, the egglet has 2 sauces to pick from - maple and chocolate. This creative egg waffle dessert seems overly complicated and intense with all that toppings but it somewhat work.
The folks at Hvala work their recipe from scratch for their 'Puffle' and I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't dry or hard as I expected it to be. Anyway, no doubt that this inspired dessert cup is almost a exact copy from Oddies Foodies in Hong Kong. For taste wise, I wouldn't say it's a close match to Oddies but being the first to start this in Singapore, this is pretty good and tasty.
