Drury Lane Cafe, 94 Tanjong Pagar Singapore

Drury Lane is yet another hipster cafe along the stretch of Tanjong Pagar road, you just can't missed the striking red doors of this unit. High tables, chairs and a selection of bakes greets you upon entering. Drury lane is known to serve cafe food with a local twist such as the highly raved salted egg yolk eggs Benedict. Not forgetting some quiet time over coffee on the second floor, therapeutic I would say.

I personally like the space here, spacious with big tables unlike some small cafes that we had to squeeze to dine. Comfort zone at its best! And just realised that the name 'Drury Lane' is derived from a nursery rhyme, The Muffin Man. How adorable, no wonder I see a good selection of muffins at the cake display!

Daily savoury menu at Drury lane, pretty extensive considering the shoebox size kitchen.

They had 2 different types of beans to pick from, while both blends were roasted by Papa Palheta. We had a small Latte ($4.50) containing a single espresso shot. It was light and smooth, pretty decent coffee for me which I find it enjoyable. Another ideal place for caffeine fix.

Finally tried their highly raved item which is the Creamy Salted Egg Yolk Eggs Benedict with Grilled Prawns ($17). Something different from the usual Hollandaise sauce while Drury lane instill a twist of local flavours to it. The salted egg yolk sauce was creamy and thick but could have better if it's stronger in flavour. The whole dish tasted bland towards the end that either the sauce were little or it wasn't distinctive enough. Appreciate the thought of having it flavoured with curry leaves.

Two huge grilled prawns were stacked underneath the two poached eggs, while they sit atop the bread. The steam buns were dense and slightly sweet, felt that it didn't quite gel together as a whole. Though this dish may seem innovative, felt that it has potential but has yet to be release.

Another brunch item we had is the Rosti with Truffle Mayo, Herbed Sunny Eggs, Avocado and Mushrooms ($14). Had to confirm twice with my partner if there were truffle infused as I couldn't taste one bit of it. Texture of rosti wasn't as crispy and thick, far from matching it to Marche's. Overall this dish were decent, though not the most exciting option.

There were other intriguing dishes on the menu which I will try on my next visit like the bakes and muffins! Nevertheless, still an ideal brunch and coffee destination for me in the vicinity of Tanjong Pagar. Coffees were good, the spacious layout on the second floor was even better. With free wifi, nothing beats a therapeutic quiet afternoon with coffee and work.
