[CLOSED] Dessert Project, Ice Cream Parlour - Singapore

Dessert Project, located at Tiong Bahru vicinity is a newly opened ice cream parlour that serves interesting yet exotic ice cream flavours such as White Truffle, Melon with Parma Ham, White Rabbit Candy and more. The cafe serves waffles, ice cream, Shibuya toast as well as lava cakes. And yes I was here mainly for the Shibuya toast which I have heard good reviews about it and this 3 inch thick buttered toast did not disappoint.

I was initially compel to try these unusual flavours but managed to sample a bite of each, and I find myself liking Melon with Parma Ham flavour. The melon base was refreshing and the Parma Ham adds a zest of saltiness but the texture of the parma ham were tough to chew on. While the White Truffle was quite intense, a scoop would be too much for one.

There were 18 ice cream flavours that are made in house and will be rotating every week. Besides the bizarre flavours, we noticed a number of conventional ones such as Strawberry Cheesecake, Coconut, Matcha, After Eight, Tiramisu, Vanilla, Pistachio etc. ($3.80 single scoop/ $7.20 double scoop)

Being a big fan of Pistachio ice cream, I was quick to try the ones here. The best one I had was at Fat Cat and was pleasantly surprised to find that the Pistachio at Dessert Project could come close matching to Fat Cat's. Of course I had to get a scoop of it for my waffle.

The menu is pretty straightforward - Coffees, Ice Cream, Waffles, Toast and Lava Cakes.

Waffle topped with a scoop of Pistachio ice cream, drizzle over with salted caramel sauce. Needless to say, ice cream was good while the waffles leans towards the crispy and airy texture within. This less dense waffle was nonetheless good and is definitely one of the better ones out there.

The highlight that we were mainly here for - Shibuya Toast. We went ahead with the Gula Melaka Coconut $14.90 - 3 inch buttered toast is topped with coconut ice cream, grated coconut flakes and gula melaka syrup.

Honestly I have never come across a pretty good Shibuya toast in Singapore, not even from Stateland or Dazzling Cafe. I was surprise yet impressed at how soft and buttery it is, though it is still crispy on the surface edge. Though nothing comes close to matching them to After You's Shibuya Toast, but I'm would say this is the closest quality I can find in Sg. The toast was overall buttery enough for me.

Glad to say that I've finally found a place for good Shibuya toast fix, it is by far one of the best toast I had in Singapore. With the right balance of texture, this toast is out to be on point. Service was good, a bunch of friendly staff who smile throughout our decision making while sampling numerous flavours. The space of the shoebox size stall is quite small but will be back for the other toasts as well as the exotic ice cream flavours.
