Crystal Jade Exclusive SG50 Dim Sum & Promotions

I'm pretty sure you may have heard plenty of SG50 promotion, and restaurants launching new items for this occasion. Crystal Jade Group is no exception either, joining in the celebration of the nation's 50th birthday with the launch of limited edition dim sum and xiaolongbao creations, as well as attractive promotions. All SG50 dishes will be available from now to 30th September. Read on to know why you need to try them!

Before moving on indulging in exquisite dim sums, we started off with this comforting Double-boiled whole Yellow Melon soup with assorted Seafood.

This piping hot soup is presented in a interesting way, in a whole melon. The broth was flavourful, one sip and you are able to tell how long this has been boiled. After finishing the soup, you can scrap off the melon flesh from the skin at the corners. Comfort food at its best.

A must-have item on every dim sum table, Siew Mai! The siew mai at Crystal Jade is accented with a luxurious touch in Steamed Siew Mai with Caviar ($9.50 for 3 pcs). Each plump minced meat ball consists chunks of prawns and crowned with a small mound of caviar which adds a savoury umami dimension.

An interesting take on siew mai this time, presenting to you Steamed Siew Mai with Quail Egg ($5.50 for 3 pcs). Laced with a luscious egg white sauce, each proffers a whole quail egg within a mix of minced pork, black fungus and sweet diced chestnuts. Innovation rendition, best dipped with chilli!

I bet all your eyes will be wide opened upon hearing local flavour in xiaolongbao such as Chilli Crab and Hainanese Chicken rice. As a befitting nod to popular Singapore specialities, these two dumplings; Chilli Crab xiaolongbao and Hainanese chicken rice xiaolongbao ($7.80 for 4 pcs, 2 pcs per flavour) will exclusively available at Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao and Crystal Jade Jiang Nan.

In a blushing red skin, the Chilli crab xiaolongbao contains chunks of crab meat in a spicy chilli-infused broth that taste like the real thing. While on the other hand, the Hainanese chicken rendition is a comforting nugget that unveils minced chicken thigh in a flavourful stock. Not forgetting to paired them with ginger paste.

Another savory option, inspiring from our local flavours - Fried Chilli Crab Meat Bun ($5.50 for 3 pcs). These golden deep-fried mantou enveloped a piquant chilli crab filling. Instead of dipping your plain mantou into the chilli crab sauce, Crystal Jade had them filled. Shiok or what.

Whimsical sweet treats in the form of goldfish will tickle more than taste buds. These Goldfish crystal dumpling ($5.50 for 3 pcs) are petite crystal dumplings with a rich salted egg yolk custard in the shape of goldfish. Lots of effort by the chefs can be seen from the precise outline of the fish fins. The dumpling skin is thin and silky, could taste the distinctive salted egg yolk custard.

Pretty in pink that display a full bloom sakura is Full Bloom Lotus Paste and Yam Pastry ($5.50 for 3 pcs). This is a testament to the chef's culinary prowess with its fine pastry encasing a smooth lotus paste with pine nuts, each piece literally blooms into a flower when fried. This is actually one of my favorite picks here, love the fine flaky pastry especially when paired with the smooth lotus and yam paste - divine!

"So Cute!" is what was commonly heard around the table when this dish arrived. Here's Chirpy Chick Pastry ($5.50 for 3 pcs), it presents adorable little chicks made with a Chinese pastry crust and lotus paste filling. This is yet another testament to the chef's culinary prowess, to get the shape of a chick.

Besides all that lotus and yam paste, another option would be these crisp pillows of Deep-fried Hokkaido milk custard ($8 for 5 pcs). It feature a soft and creamy centre made with Hokkaido milk contrasted with a fragrant light batter. I'm not a fan of milk so it didn't won my heart but the people at my table were delighted by this. 

Lastly, we ended off the meal with Poached seasonal vegetable with garlic in superior stock
Other than the flavorsome broth, nothing quite special about it.

For chilled desserts, there were 2 options to pick from - Mango Pudding or Red Wine Jelly & Mixed Fruits. No doubt, I will go for something less similar and that's the red wine jelly. The jelly is soaked in wine before serving and after topped with mixed fruits. Refreshing and unique I would say. 

I'm sure Crystal Jade is no stranger to locals and even out of Singapore while the folks are committed to preserving the rich traditions of Chinese cuisine. Don't forget that these limited edition dim sum are available from now till 30th September 2015

Also, a steamer basket consisting a pair each of chilli crab xiaolongbao and Hainanese chicken rice xiaolongbao will be priced at $5 with a minimum spend of $30 on a la carte food items.
