1460 Tteokbokki, Korean Street Food @ Cathay Cineleisure

As the name goes, 1460 Tteokbokki serve up a variety of tteokbokki (Korean rice cakes) flavours as well as other Korean street food like fried squid, meat skewers and more. From the same folks who run Joo Bar, 8 Korean BBQ and homemade rock candy artisan Sticky, this outlet brings you back to Korea with an array of Korean street snack.

1460 Tteokbokki operates as a takeaway kiosk with standing area at the stall front, just like having street food in Korea. The menu here includes a variety of Korean snack such as rainbow bingsu, potato tornado, chicken and tteokbokki skewers, slushie, oden and fried squid. I actually wish they serve the popular egg bread or Hotteok here.

There were 3 types of Tteokbokki S$5 flavours to pick from - the usual spicy tteokbokki, soy base as well as deep fried rice cakes in creamy tomato base. I had my spicy rice cakes topped with cheese which cost additional a dollar. This is definitely an ideal quick snack for those who crave for Korean food now and then.

You may have seen this on the streets in Seoul where the squid is skewered and deep fried as a whole. This Korean Fried Squid S$5 is a popular street food in Korea, known for it's battered fried texture and finished look. The rendition at 1460 Tteokbokki comes with a slight spicy flavour with their powdered spices.

Another item you can find here is the Chicken and Tteokbokki Skewer S$4. Chargrilled chopped chicken, rice cakes and capsicum drenched in a tangy sweet sauce.

Most of the people would have probably know or had this before. Potato Tornado S$3 is one of the most popular Korean snack, I was stoked to have this because most of the ones I had in Singapore were disappointing. At 1460 Tteokbokki, the potato slices weren't too thin and I can get the potato texture in each slice. With the right seasoning, this deep-fried swirl-cut potato stick was indeed enticing. Best way to eat: pull out each potato slice with your hand.

For something sweet to capped of your meal, here's the Rainbow Bingsu $6. Finely shaved sweet rainbow ice while fruity pebbles can be found underneath. This is definitely for the sweet tooth.

If you looking for a quick bite and craving for some Korean snack or even when you just miss Seoul and everything K, this is definitely for you. Located in the heart of Orchard road, will absolutely be back for the potato tornado!
