Pho Street @ Westgate Mall, Jurong East

Pho Street currently has two outlets, located at both ends of Singapore - Westgate and Bedok Mall. Since June 2015, Pho Street presents a brand-new revamped menu offering authentic Vietnamese pho and street delights. Considering the shoe-box sized kitchen at Westgate in a quick service restaurant, the revamped menu was rather extensive with six varieties of Pho and many other options.

Pho Street aims to reignite the Vietnamese food culture in Singapore with an emphasis on the vibrancy of Vietnamese cuisine. Ranging from vietnamese noodles to rice vermicelli on the menu, I believe everyone has something that will suit their taste palate here. Not forgetting being affordable.

Two of my favorite beverages at Pho Street - Lemon Cooler with Peppermint & Basil $3.50 and Passionfruit & Basil Mojito $3.50. From the name of it, you can already tell how refreshing this drink would be.

A Vietnamese dining experience isn't complete without trying the Vietnamese summer rolls. The fresh Summer Rolls (2pcs @ $4.90) at Pho Street is stuffed with prawns, pork belly and herbs. Don't forget to dip with the sweet sauce given, it definitely enhances the taste.

Sesame rice crackers with minced meat and spices dip $6.90, I was pleasantly surprise at how good this Vietnamese snack was. I have never heard about this dish before either. The minced pork and spices dip were fragrant, definitely a great accompaniment with the crackers. Must try.

Fried chicken lovers will be delighted to see this, like myself. This Crispy fried chicken mid-wings is served with Caramelised sweet dip $4.90, taste similar to our local dish, Har Cheong Gai (Prawn Paste Chicken).

If you fancy a variety, the Vietnamese Snack Platter $8.90 offers a good mix to go with your mains. Do note that the actual portion comes with 2 pieces for each item. The platter consist of crispy fried pork rolls, roasted chicken skewers and Vietnamese crab cakes.

Moving on to mains, this featured item was actually a dish specially created during the new year's period, available till end of February 2016. Here's Thit Kho $8.90, Vietnamese caramelised braised pork belly with rice and egg vermicelli. This traditional New Year dish hailing from Southern Vietnam is comfort food I would say.

Another signature noodle dish from Vietnam not often found in Singapore is the Dry Rice Vermicelli. It is served with mix of vegetables, pickled carrots and radish with sweet and sour sauce. Among the recommended ones is this Dry Rice Vermicelli with Roasted Pork Chop & Spring Roll $8.90. I specially love the spring roll, nothing like your usual popiah. This is the win.

Another alternative from rice and noodles, here's Banh Mi - toasted crusty bread stuffed with meats, mayonnaise, pickled carrots, radish, cucumbers and chilli. There are four choices to pick from - Chicken Ham, Roasted Pork Belly, Grilled Beef and Combination (all 3 meats). In frame is Banh Mi Combination $6.90 which consist all 3 types of meat in one toast.

We capped the meal with this unique Vietnamese dessert - Cream of Mung Bean with Coconut Sauce and Crushed Peanuts $3.50. It can get a little too much for one, sharing it would be good.

Indeed Pho Street serves affordable Vietnamese fare including their signature Pho. Each bowl of Pho is served in a light and flavourful broth that has been boiled for long hours to extract the natural goodness of marrow-rich beef bones. For the beef lover, be sure to try the Pho Beef Combination consisting of beef slices, balls, shank, tendon and tripe. Good food without breaking the bank, worth value I would say.
