[CLOSED] The Fat Cat Bistro - 17D Lorong Liput, Holland Village

The restaurant was previously located at Jalan Riang but now relocated in the heart of Holland Village, you'll find casual bistro - The Fat Cat. A perfect place to chill with your friends over dinner and drinks. What's unique is, they serve a wide array of dishes from 3 types of cuisine, Thai, North Indian and Western.

I'm glad to be invited for a food tasting session w them, to savor some of their best dishes from the 3 different kitchens. A starter & a main to start off for each cuisine - of course ending on a sweet note w desserts!

Thai Menu - Inspired by the street food in Bangkok & Changmai, Chef Nang uses the finest ingredients and has the ability to satisfy any foodie's Thai craving. Some of his signature items like Mango Salad w Baby Snapper or Spicy Minced Pork w Basil.

Starter from the Thai menu was Pomelo Salad ($11) - w fresh cut tomatoes, coriander, cashew nuts and honey tamarind dressing. This is my first time having Pomelo Salad, something different from your usual mango/papaya salad. Surprisingly, the combination was delectable - that sweet & sour taste definitely kick start our taste buds.

Main dish from the Thai Kitchen - Green Curry w chicken/pork/prawn/ baby snapper ($13). Though the photo doesn't look very appealing, the baby snapper was fresh w juicy apple eggplants. Overall, it was rich in flavor but the use of coconut milk seems too much, making it too 'milky'.

North Indian Menu - If you're a fan of naan and chicken masala, you'll definitely love this set of menu with a wide spread of traditional favorites.

Starter from the North Indian Menu - Mantra Wings ($10). Crispy fried chicken wings lightly seasoned with Indian herbs. Not bad, taste quite similar to Chinese dish, Har Cheong Gai (prawn paste chicken).

Garlic Naan ($3) w Chicken Masala ($11) - my second favourite dish during the session. Crispy and rich w garlic flavor - the naan is good itself even without dipping the curry. The thick gravy in the Chicken masala was delish as well, highly recommended!

Western Menu - delightful western fare brought to you bu Chef Mike Chung. Be sure to savour their signature items like Lamb Shank, Duck Confit or Crab Meat Pasta.

Grilled Beetroot Salad ($13) - beetroot on mesclun salad with balsamic dressing. Was told that it's a must try item on the menu. It was decent, though I feel there wasn't anything to shout about. Some of you may think 13 bucks for this is a rip off.

Duck Confit ($24) - Definitely a French classic! Leg of duck served w red wine sauce, creamy mash potatoes and ratatouille. This was simply one of the best among the rest of the dishes served. The duck confit was really tender, a slight push and the meat simply fell off from the bone. If there were more gravy to the mash potato w some ground pepper, it would be good. Overall, thumbs up!

Lastly for desserts, we had the ones from the western menu - Tiramisu ($7) & Oreo Cheesecake ($6.50). One of the most alcoholic tiramisu I had, the strong rum flavor at the bottom kinda overpowered the taste of cream cheese and coffee. Oreo Cheesecake wise, I was surprised at the soft texture when I put my fork in. Just tasted slightly milky but overall, both were average!

With a spread of mouth-watering dishes from 3 different cuisine, I'm pretty sure they can satisfy your craving. The Fat Cat also serves a wide selection of alcoholic beverages, beers, wines, cocktails, coffee, juices - you will be spoilt for choices! Lastly, thank you everyone at The Fat Cat for having us! I was expecting a fat cat to walk around leisurely in the restaurant, no I'm kidding :P
