Park Regis Singapore, Hotel Review & Food Tour

It's been a while since I had my last staycation and this time at Park Regis was a great recharge, both physically and mentally, as well as a break from work. I had a few factors to consider when choosing a place for a staycation, mainly location, affordability, and cleanliness. And I'm glad to say that all of these expectations were met during my weekend stay with Park Regis.

Park Regis Hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Singapore's bustling entertainment hubs of Clarke Quay and Boat Quay, and the subway station (Clarke Quay MRT) is just a stone throw away. When it comes to food, fret not because there is plenty of local food experience just a walk away from Park Regis, yes I'm talking about Chinatown to be exact!

We had the 'Merchant Room', it is cozy and has everything you need during your trip. The hotel also offers a range of facilities that include a well-appointed gym and a self-service laundromat. Those traveling on business can also enjoy the full suite of secretarial services and complimentary usage of the iMac work station. Don't worry about expensive data roaming fees because the hotel also provides complimentary Wi-Fi internet access for all guests.

Can you spot some old school snacks above? Will talk about the heritage food tour in a bit.

The staycation package I had offers a complimentary breakfast buffet, the spread is pretty extensive with all the essential breakfast items that one needs. Who loves a live egg station?! If you are on a food adventure, the heritage food trail will be available from 930am after the breakfast buffet.

Singapore is a melting pot of cultures and what better way to discover it than through a heritage food trail. Park Regis’ annual #sginsiders trail is back for a palatable treat. The tour is happening every Saturday from 9.30am to 12.30pm, from May to October 2019. This is open to all guests and it's priced at S$15 nett/pax, inclusive of 3-hour guided tour + food.

Kick start the tour at the lobby where you will be handed a bottle of water, fan and a packet of tissue paper (to chops the seats if needed). The tour is headed by a local guide and he/she will bring you along to:

Hong Lim Market and Food Centre for Singapore’s iconic breakfast set (kaya toast and a cup of local kopi aka coffee or teh aka tea) and a made from scratch flaky curry puff from Tanglin Crispy Curry Puffs.

Tong Heng, an 83-year-old Cantonese pastry shop for their popular diamond-shape egg tarts.

Mei Heong Yuen Dessert, Chinatown heritage brand known for it's traditional and modernize desserts.

Lim Chee Guan for Bak Kwa, serving up traditionally barbecued meat slices. A must eat especially during Chinese New Year.

It was really an informative tour, along the way the friendly tour guide introduces a couple of landmarks and it's histories that even me myself as a Singaporean didn't know. It's a 15 bucks package that doesn't just include food but lots of information about the history of Singapore's Chinatown. Not forgetting it was lots of fun as we eat away!

I personally enjoyed my stay here at Park Regis, it was no doubt a good retreat. And if you like what you see here and wishes to go on an adventure, their Staycation Package starts at S$218++ and it includes complimentary access to #sginsiders heritage food trail, daily buffet breakfast for 2 pax and late check-out until 3pm (subject to availability).

  3. Ah, I was looking for a Help with Accounting Homework, and I landed here somehow. And looking at these pictures, I have realized how hungry I am. Hence, before ordering my dissertation, I am going to order a burger. By the way, I regret that I didn’t visit this restaurant when I was in Singapore.

  4. Seriously, you have come up with a fantastic idea that every hotel or restaurant should use this method for living. I won't be able to insist on every restaurant owner, but once I am done looking for Bachelor Viva Voce Examination based service, I will go out and insist on my friend, who is also a restaurant owner.
