Dal.komm Coffee, Korean Cafe Chain opens in Singapore

Popular Korean cafe chain dal.komm Coffee that has appeared in Korean drama, Descendants of the Sun is now officially opened in Singapore, at The Centrepoint. While the cafe appeared numerous times in the drama, fans of the show would have recognized the cafe scene where Song Joong Ki and Song Hye-kyo had coffee together.

With over 160 outlets across South Korea and Malaysia, dal.komm Coffee is the first coffee chain in Korea that highlights music. The brand work with local record labels to hold 'Veranda Live' events, whereby artistes can promote their new albums and conduct fan meet and greet sessions.

With any purchase, customers will receive a Music Card with a QR code that can be scanned to access and stream a music video of the singer's current hit. In each month, different artiste or band will be featured on the card.

Dal.komm brings coffee and music together, and unlike other coffee chain, their range of brews are customization via a selection of three proprietary Arabica beans blends K1 to K3; each with its own aroma and flavour.

We had the Caffe Latte $6 with a K1 blend, it is a light and well-balanced blend. K2 is considered the lightest roast of the three, it is sweet with a citrusy punch. K3 on the other hand is creamy and full-bodied, best for those who likes their cuppa rich and strong. Other options like Cube $8.50 has blocks of frozen K1 espresso, then topped with milk.

For non-caffeinated options, there were a couple of refreshing fruity drinks such as the Honey Grapefruit (hot, $8.50/ cold, $8.90) and Strawberry Cube $8.50. The former is vitamin C-packed but it's slightly too citrusy for my liking. The strawberry cube on the other hand was something I prefer, the crush and frozen strawberries gave some crunch to it, then heaped atop iced milk. Somewhat like a strawberry milkshake!

That moment when you are craving for bingsu and wants to eat healthy - Cherry Tomato Bingsu $10.90 reg/ $15.90 large. A bowl finely shaved ice topped with homemade sweetened milk sauce and cut cherry tomatoes. In the middle of the shaved ice, you will find a layer of plum powder for added oomph - a mix of sweet and sour.

The classic Korean Injeolmi Toast Red Bean $8.50 was a crowd pleaser; a toasted sandwich of injeolmi (chewy rice cake) and red bean paste coated in soybean powder and honey. The chewy rice cakes add another layer of texture in every bite while the red bean paste gave a little sweetness as a whole. I would enjoy this over a cuppa.

The Cruffin Matcha $11.50 is a marriage of two most favorite breakfast item, Croissant and Muffin; it is then crowned with green tea curd and whipped cream. Apart from the massive whipped cream which I'm not a fan of, the cruffin itself was interestingly pleasant. The texture is definitely more croissant-like than a muffin, soft and flaky.

The outlet is spacious and the other end of the cafe can be booked and cordoned off for private events and parties. Oh yes, fans of Descendants of the Sun would have recognized the iconic plushies from the show, they are available for purchase here as well along with other dal.komm coffee merchandise at the retail corner.

Conveniently situated in the heart of Orchard, dal.komm is one of the ideal spot for coffee and desserts in town. Though there wasn't a 'wow factor' on the food to get me talking, I have to admit dal.komm is a nice place to chill over drinks.
