Of all the days when I'm going up to Equinox at level 69 of Swissotel, the haze is here to stay in Singapore. Of course, the haze ruined my awesome view at the top. Equinox Restaurant had always been one of the buffet places on my list to tick off. Here's my splendid table view!
The first thing you notice at Equinox is not its food. It's the beautiful view at 69 floors high, that overlooks Singapore’s CBD and all over Marina Bay. A mandatory shot. It could have been way better without the haze.
The first thing I went was the dessert section as they look especially good. There were the breads, scones, the local snacks such as egg tarts, kueh lapis, malay kuehs etc. Other side were the chocolate mousse cakes, walnut carrot cakes & etc. Other worthy bites are the mini lemon meringue tarts and chocolate fruit tarts. The tart itself were really crunchy and simply delicious.
Not forgetting the chocolate fondue segment. I was expecting more of it for dipping as there were only the marshmallows, strawberries & biscuits. I gave it a missed and headed for the fruits which has plenty of variety.
The high tea buffet price here maybe affordable and cheap considering the amazing view and a spread of selections to pick from.
Western selection include salmon sandwiches, baked pasta, stew beef, meatballs etc. There were Beijing roast duck wraps and salads. The Chinese selection includes dim sum buns and dumplings - and there are bentos of sushi assortment for sushi lover.
Despite it being a high tea buffet, I find the spread rather wide. The buffet includes free flow of TWG teas such as Honey Chamomile, English Breakfast, Grey Earl etc. However, Premium tea flavors are additional charged. Reservation is required, as it's almost full house even though I'm there on a Monday.
The Kueh Pie Ti were the best of all time. I went crazy the moment I saw it, my favorite :D
The ice-cream flavours were unique and different such as Walnut Maple, Berries Yogurt etc.
The food quality for its high tea buffet will definitely simpler in comparison to the lunch and dinner buffet. Their savory food taste average and was nothing much worth remembering. Some were slightly above average, while others fell short of it. The high tea duration is 90 mins & we were chomping our food down quickly.
At 5 pm, the haze worsen and we couldn't see clearly anymore D: Anyway, I'd likely to come back again when the haze is gone! With such an idyllic setting, longer duration, view, service and spread, it's advisable to go for the lunch/dinner instead but of course they come with a higher price.
