Anti:dote Afternoon Tea @ Fairmont Hotel Singapore

Have always wanted to check out Anti:dote for it's unique high tea experience, where pastries and sweets are presented in an exquisite white leather-clad jewellery drawer chest. Each layer unveils a medley of sweet and savory pastries. It is probably the most classy and style afternoon tea you can find in town. We made a reservation of 2 weeks in advance as they're usually crowded especially during the weekends.

There are 2 afternoon tea sets on the menu to pick from - Anti:dote Tea Set or the Oriental Tea Set, both priced at $45++ each. Each set comes with a coffee or fine teas by TWG, additional $15 if you wish to go for a glass of champagne. The only difference between this two sets is the first course, the Anti:dote Tea and Oriental Tea set comes with black truffle scrambled eggs and a selection of steamed/fried Hong Kong dim sum respectively.

The black truffle scrambled eggs from The Anti:dote Tea Set. It is presented in a egg shell topped with truffle foam while the scrambled eggs sits at the bottom infused with a rich truffle aroma. Comes with 2 freshly toasted bread sticks, dip them in for the best flavour.

On the other hand, the starter for the Oriental Tea set includes a selection of Hong Kong Dim Sum. Beautifully plated in the dim sum basket were siew mai, carrot cake and deep fried shrimp wrapped in tofu skin.

Comprising over 10 crafted highlights including a selection of petite sandwiches, pastries and cakes, as well as warm scones. The Afternoon Tea experience is enhanced with a pairing of fine teas by TWG. A top up of difference is required for the premium tea selections.

We had the Pink Flamingo Tea - A graceful TWG blend of green tea with crimson hibiscus blossoms. This quirky mélange infuses into a rose-colored cup with tart, fruity overtones.

And Holiday in Paris - Rare Yin Zhen and sweet vanilla have been blended as an ode to a leisurely promenade along the cobblestone streets of Paris. Nard and wildflowers decorate this cup with their crisp, floral flavour and leave a heady, perfumed aftertaste. Out of these 2, I personally like this more.

Since there were the 2 of us, most of the item comes in pairs. The top deck consist of petite desserts, such as  Strawberry gateau, Limoncino Napoleon, Cappuccino comtessa, Framboise lychee macaron, Red cherry rose ball, Mini cheese cake, raspberry jam, Chocolate pralines and Chocolate-dipped strawberry.

One of the 3 drawer presented were the Scones - Raisin and Candied Ginger Scones. They were warm and flaky, it feel like it was just baked right out from the oven. Enjoyed it especially when paired with TWG teas.

The middle deck there's the petite sandwiches and savory pastries:

Smoked salmon, lemon and dill cream cheese, ikura roe
Boston lobster roll, confit lemon, chervil
Iberico ham quiche, mozzarella, black truffle
Confit duck rillette, foie gras terrine, pickled onion
Chicken tikka, mint, coriander, green mango

My favorite pick among these were the Iberico ham quiche with black truffle. It was good with a blend of truffle and the iberico ham gives an extra boost in flavour. I wish there's more than 1 of this :P

The warms scones are well accompanied with homemade jam, devonshire clotted cream and lemon curd. I was surprised at how good the lemon curd is, not overly sour and rich in it's lemon zest. In this drawer, you'll find Butter cookies as well.

No doubt it was a great experience to delight in an indulgent afternoon tea at Anti:dote Lounge. This is probably the most interesting afternoon tea concept in town and of course it comes with a price of $45++ per adult. It's an ideal chill out location over pastries and tea, like an escape from the hectic work.
